Whatsup people!
My second post is about the top ten inventions in the world,
in my opinion. The inventions are in no particular order.
1.
Assembly Line: Henry Ford in 1913. This
invention turned manual craft based assembly into an automated more efficient
process. From assembling cars in the early 1900’s, assembly lines are used in
the production of many products from food and drink to cellular devices and
chips. This invention allowed mass production and saved money and time that
would have gone into manual labor.
2.
Radio: Guglielmo Marconi in 1896. Marconi called
his invention the “wireless telegraph”. The radio was one of the very first methods to
send information between people without wires and overcame the difficulty of
natural barriers such as oceans and mountains. The radio saved by lives by
sending information to various locations quickly.
3.
Transistor: John Bardee, Walter Brattain,
William Shockley in 1947. I believe this is one of the most important
inventions as it is the foundation for most of the electronics and way of life
we are so accustomed to currently. The transistor served purposes in not just
cellular devices, but earlier time in radar units and communication during
times of war and emergency. It is currently used in almost all electronics.
Thanks to the assembly line they too can be mass-produced for cheap.
4.
Wheel: Possibly Sumerians? Not entirely sure, but around 3500 BC. Without the invention of the wheel we may still be carrying
everything in our hand on moving on our feet. I believe this invention was a
sign of significant process in humanity as it permitted more tasks to be
completed faster, which could again lead to lives being saved.
5.
Engine: Etienne Lenor in 1859. Along with many
previous inventions such as the wheel and assembly line, the engine assisted in
powering many processes in industry. Now we know them to power our cars, ships,
and planes, and without them we may still be riding in carriages.
6.
World Wide Web: Tim Berners-Lee in 1989. The
World Wide Web empowered everyone upon its creation as it allowed the sharing
of mass information and data to everyone. It now allows for effective
communication from people all around the world for various purposes such as
education and entertainment.
7.
Vaccination: Edward Jenner in 1796. I believe
some medical inventions to be the most important inventions in mankind because
without them people would still have very short lifespans and would not be able
to invent many of the other items in the list as they would be suffering from
disease and plague.
8.
Sanitation Systems: Back in the day sewage,
trash, and garbage had no safe method to be disposed of. They would often lead
to collecting bacteria and starting diseases. Similar to vaccination, sanitation
and sewer systems add to a longer life span by carrying street runoff and
garbage to sewage treatment facilities where they could not harm people.
9.
Oil Drilling in 1859: Wars have been fought over
oil and oil has its own economy, so we know it must be of value. We use oil in our
everyday life to get from place to place, keep ourselves warm in the winter,
and feed ourselves. Without oil drilling we would not have the power to live
such comfortable lifestyles.
1. Electricity:
Luigi Galvani In the late 19th century. One of the most convenient
methods to transfer energy, the utilization of electricity can be seen
everywhere. Electricity powers our homes, electronic applications, and for some
even our cars.
Hey Raghav,
ReplyDeleteReally enjoyed your top ten inventions. One of my favorite was oil drilling. Not everyone thinks of this process of an invention, but it is none the less. I also like the inclusion of the transistor. Overall, you did a great job, but I'm if electricity was invented or discovered. Really liked it otherwise!
I really enjoyed reading your list. I think it is well put togetehr. I especially enjoyed the comments you made on the assembly line as an invention. I truly think standardizing a process such as that allowed us to prosper as a nation and become the leading industrialist of that time. I don't think America would be where it today with out it and its neat how you noticed that.
